Challenge

Create and manage a New Product Development (NPD) process that helped a 100-year-old company launch its first truly new products in decades.

Approach

Outsourced the entire NPD process to add energy and expertise, including ideation, concept testing, brand positioning, branding and packaging development to return-on-investment analyses.

Worked collaboratively with Hatfield’s senior level management across all disciplines to ensure integration of effort

Created a platform for the company to shift from products dependent on low prices to premium, value-added products. 

Results

Out of 15 product concepts tested, 5 achieved scores that significantly outperformed norms in the category. 

Took all 5 through Tandem’s proprietary Opportunity Assessment Model and 2 were launched.
